Le troisième album des Who est réédité avec de nombreux bonus. Revue de détails.

Après les succès des rééditions de My Generation, Tommy et Quadrophenia voici celle très attendue de The Who Sell Out. Sorti en décembre 1967, l’album reflète l’époque où d’énormes bouleversements musicaux se produisent et où la « Pop » se métamorphose en « Rock ».

The Who Sell Out était initialement un album concept avec des jingles et des publicités entre les chansons, conçu comme une émission de Radio London. L’idée initiale était de vendre des espaces publicitaires sur l’album (voitures Jaguar, Coca-Cola, etc.). Les jingles rendent hommage aux stations de radios pirates et exposent déjà les mythes de la « Pop Culture » et de la société de consommation. L’hommage au Pop-Art est évident tant dans les jingles publicitaires que dans le design iconique de la pochette.
